Mothers' recipe Kolukattai and Meat curry

Kolukattai

Ingredients
  • Rice powder or dry roast ragi powder - 1 cup 
  • Ghee - 3 tbps
  • Grated coconut - half cup
  • Jaggery - grated half cup
  • Cardamom powder - 3 - half tbps
  • Salt - pinch
  • Sugar - 1 spoon
  • Water - 3 spoon.

Procedure

In a bowl take the flour, add coconut , Jaggery, cardamom powder, salt, sugar, and mix it with water and prepare a dry dough. Take hand full of dough in  palm and press it with your fingers to make kolukattai. Place it on the plate and steam in a pressure cooker as we do to prepare idli. Serve hot.

Meat curry

Ingredients

  • Meat - half kg
  • Grated coconut
  • Green chillies - 6
  • garlic cloves - 10
  • ginger garlic paste- 4 tbps
  • tomatoes - 4
  • Onion - 4
  • turmeric powder - 1 tbps
  • dry chilly powder- 4 tbps
  • coriander powder- 4 tbps
  • garam masala powder - 1 tbps
  • curd - 1 tbps
  • Salt for taste
  • oil as required

  • Procedure

    Wash the meat thoroughly three to four times until the water is clear without blood color. 
    Marinate the meat with salt, turmeric powder, chilly powder, ginger garlic paste and curd . Keep it aside for nearly one hour. Prepare paste of coconut, green chillies, garlic.
    Heat oil in cooker, add chopped onion, ginger garlic paste, chopped tomatoes, when they are cooked add the paste prepared, coriander powder and garam masala. Add the marinated meat and pressure cook for nearly 10 minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves.
